A HEALTHY SCHOOL VACATION

FEBRUARY 22, 23, & 24, 2005
9:00 AM to 12:00 NOON
 
For children Kindergarten through Grade 7
TUESDAY                       Rosalita's Puppets
Charlotte Doer will bring to life Rosalita's Puppets in their performance of "The Sea Story", focusing on healthy choices. The show includes a mermaid, whale, sea creatures and a pirate. Following the show, Ms. Doer will run a puppet making workshop and each child will make their own puppet based on the theme of healthy choices.
     
 
WEDNESDAY                       Healthy Snacks
Kids will have fun with Sharon Gallagher, a Registered Dietician, learning about and making healthy snacks.
                      Yoga for Kids
The children will participate in a Kids Yoga class taught by Christine Way-Cotter, a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor.
    
 
THURSDAY                       Art with Kate
Kate will help the children in creating art that expresses healthy messages. The children will also use the puppets they made to make up skits expressing the healthy messages they have learned.


Quincy Access Television member, Job Chan, Program Director for the Asian Tobacco Action Center, and members of the Wollaston Congregational Church's TV crew from their monthly show, "Inside and Out of WCC," will be on hand filming Public Service Announcements that your children will make highlighting the healthy messages they learn throughout the three days at the HEALTHY KIDS VACATION CAMP. You will get to see your kids on QATV!
 
                      Tobacco Education
Patricia Henley will offer an educational presentation about the effects of second hand smoke and the benefits of a smoke free home.
 

 

 

SPECIAL EVENT! THURSDAY 12:30 TO 1:30 PM
"CREEPY CRAWLY LADY" Bonnie Main

The children will bring their lunch on Thursday and will stay for an exciting closing event which will be open to the entire community. From 12:30 to 1:30pm, Bonnie Main, other wise known as “THE CREEPY CRAWLY LADY”, will provide lots of fun and education for kids and adults of all ages. Her snakes, lizards and other assorted animals will delight everyone from the youngest children to the oldest in the group as well. This portion of the program is free to all
 
 
Reverend Mary Louise Gifford, Pastor of the Wollaston Congregational Church, and Patricia Henley, Program Director of the Blue Hills Tobacco-Free Community Mobilization Network, designed this program for the enjoyment and benefit of the wider community. The mini-grant was awarded by the Blue Hills Community Health Alliance, South Shore Hospital and Shields MRI of Massachusetts.
